Meet Our Leaders

Ray Palompo

Elder, Primary Teaching Pastor and Pastor over Adult Ministries

Ray is the main preaching elder at Island Grace Church.  He was born in Honolulu and lived his early life there.  The US Navy took his family to Subic Bay, Philippines and then to Northern California, where he was a youth pastor and elder at Community Bible Church in Vallejo, California.  There, he attended Grace School of Theology and Ministry and The Cornerstone Seminary.  Burdened by the Lord and affirmed by the church, Ray was sent back to Hawaii with seven other families from Community Bible Church and they planted Island Grace Church in 2009.  The preaching of Christ and the making of disciples continues to be His burden to this day.  Ray and his wife Lirio have two sons and daughters-in-law (Brandon & Theona, and Sam & Shanna), and a daughter and son-in-law (Marjory & Alex).

Jay Palompo

Elder and Pastor over Music Ministry

Jay was born in Honolulu but moved to Vallejo, California to graduate from Vallejo High School and CSU Sacramento. He transplanted from Community Bible Church in Vallejo, California (cbcvallejo.org) where he served as an Elder, Music Pastor, College\Career Pastor, marriage counselor, and attended the Cornerstone Seminary. Communicating his burden for the islands to the elders at CBC, they sent Jay and family to Hawaii to plant Island Grace Church. Here he serves as an elder, music pastor and Bible study leader. One of his greatest joys is training men through discipleship. He married Angeli in 1991 and have three sons: Jonathon, David, and Andrew. You might catch Jay and family at the beach for some SUP (stand-up paddle) time or at the local hardware store loading up supplies for some random home project.

Michael David was born in Manila, Philippines, and raised in California, where his faith and calling to serve others were shaped early in life. He has spent over 25 years in education, including 13 years serving in Christian schools, where he integrated faith, leadership, and learning in support of students and families.

Michael has been a member of Island Grace Church since 2010 and has served in various ministry roles, including Sunday School teacher, mid-week Bible study leader, men’s ministry leader, and as a guest preacher on Sundays. He has been married to his wife, Bessie, since 1999, and they are blessed with a daughter, Keaolani Grace. Michael is grateful for God’s continued guidance and is committed to serving the church with humility, faith, and a heart for discipleship.

Alex Bumgarner

Elder

Alex spent most of his childhood in North Carolina before moving to Hawaii with his family the summer before his junior year of high school. Alex has been attending IGC since graduating from Mililani High School in 2012. Alex was raised in a home with faithful Christian parents, and the Lord saved Alex in His Grace when he was in middle school. The Lord then really captured Alex’s heart and gave him a burden for ministry through the faithful preaching of the Word and discipleship at Island Grace. The Lord has shown Alex the beauty of Christ and His grace and it’s one of Alex’s great joys to labor in showing those same glories to others. Alex graduated from Bethlehem College and Seminary with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology. Alex currently serves overseeing the youth ministry and a midweek Bible study, as well as assisting in the preaching and teaching on Sundays. Alex has been married to his wife, Marjory, since 2017, and they have one son, Skai.  Alex is excited to raise Skai as one who loves the Lord, and Duke Bluedevils basketball.

Al was born in Athens, Georgia. The military moved his family to various naval bases throughout North America. During his grade school years, his family finally settled in Vallejo, California. There he graduated from Vallejo High School, Napa Valley College and attended Grace School of Theology and Ministry. During his senior year of high school, Al heard the gospel of Jesus Christ, gave his life to follow the Lord and began attending Community Bible Church (CBC) in Vallejo. At CBC, he faithfully served in the youth ministry as well as various other ministries for 20 years. In 2010, God lead him to move to Oahu to help with the planting of Island Grace Church (IGC). Ron Corpuz

Deacon

Ron was born and raised on Oahu, and is currently working for a local utilities company.  He was given the opportunity to hear the gospel at a young age and has since decided to put his trust in Jesus.  Ron began to attend Island Grace Church in 2012, where his heart for serving and pointing people to Christ placed him within multiple ministries at IGC, such as overseeing our Sound Ministry or, at times, leading music with the Music Team during Sunday services.  Ron and his wife, Darci, were married in 2023, and have one daughter, Henley.
